Howdy,I have a 92 E.B. Bronco It doesnt shift into 4 Wheel drive.Dash lights come on and I hear a click from behind the glove box but no clunk or anything from the front axle, only get traction from 1 rear wheel,Please Help,Thanks
I'm having same problem. My 4 wd vehicle is now a 1 wd. I have posts out looking for answers too. Seems to be common problem. AIM's comments are true. Also, you can put someone in the truck, engine started of course and place in 4WD while you look for the front axle to turn. You may have to turn the steering wheel one way or the other to get proper viewing angle while NOT having to get under truck. Let driver just let off brake to roll forward slightly and see if axle turns. If it turns (now I'm not sure of this but I believe i'm right), then my guesss is that the transfer case is engaging so problem must be in hub. Another guess - If one axle is turning, you might try switching Right and left hubs in case just one is bad. I've yet to try that. I have a set of 5 screw auto hubs that i bought off a guy who says they work fine but I have the 3 screw caps on my bronco so i'm trying to find out how to adapt the 5 to 3 screw. That's my question. BTW, Most recommend putting in manual hubs.
I am guessing you all have shift on the fly. Shift on the fly just means you don't have to get out of the truck to engage 4wd you absolutly have to engage it under 5 mph and to make 4x4 disengage you have to reverse. A lot of times people will begoing 20 mph and pushes the 4x4 engage button. This breaks a picece located in the bottom front near the axle. Take it somewhere and have the 4wd mecanisem checked. I can't remember the damn name for it. Maybe I will later.
Engagee 4X4 under 5mph?? Im sure my manual in my '95 says that it can be angaged up to around 50 mph. Ive pushed my 4x4 button at 50/60 mph and no problems. A little clunk and off I go.
