My 03 has developed a problem in that it takes a longer crank time to start. Batteries are new. Checked the HPOP reservoir and it is holding at 1in down. Put a new CPS on about 3,000 miles ago(truck would die unexpectically and that fixed this problem). Motor oil level is full and has 3,000 miles on it. Once the motor starts, it runs perfectly smooth so I would think there is no problem with back draining of fuel. Motor has 87,000 miles on it and is stock except for having a SuperChip program in it on the "Tow Safe" mode. Chip has been in for the last 40,000 miles.
I was using the 6637 filter and unplugged the AIT sensor when I swapped over. Cranking took longer than normal but that was in winter so I figured no big deal. But it kept up, and was worse after the truck was warmed up actually!! So a friend scanned the computer and found that without the AIT sensor in place my truck was always seeing -40* F!! I plugged the AIT back in and she fires up fast now.
If you have access to an AE and can check parameters like that, have a look there. Yours could possibly be going bad, or just not working. that's assuming it's plugged in. If it's not plugged in, put it back in there.
i have heard this can be attributed to a leaking IPR. I think you can buy o-ring kits for them for about $20-$30. will be curious to see what fixes it. my truck does the same thing and i have been too lazy to pursue troubleshooting it.
