I have a '95 Bronco, and once you get to around 65 MPH, the spedo jumps back and forth about 10 or 15 MPH. I thought I heard somewhere(don't know where) that on these trucks, if the spedo stops working, then the transmission will not work. Is this true? I would have to have my E40D lock up on me when I'm running 65 or 70 MPH. Thanks for any and all help

yo dude!
all i know is that there is a vehicle speed sensor attached to the rear axle..on the anti-lock brake unit....it also sends speed info to the "eng managemnet sys" and cruise control..if you have cruise and it doesnt work at the time of erratic readings, i heard that it could be the vss..of course..other things could be wrong too..i dunno,
and if the VSS is not working, the bronco might not drive right.
suggest you check the electr connector on the vss and the collector ring for dirt or nicks..the ring can be replaced too
I have a '94 with the same problem. I noticed that it happens usually on longer trips. My ABS light comes on since the wheel speed sensors "know" the tires are going 65, but the speedo "thinks" the vehicle is going 50 (more or less). If anyone has any info on this, it would be very helpful. Thank you.
