no compression

hey guys,i am working on a 65 f250 with a 1971 240 inline six .the last owner ran the motor hot and noew it won't start.i've checked the timing by removing the cover and it lines up great.i replaced the head gasket even when it didn't need it. now i've checked the compression on all cylinders and number one has no compression , i add oil to the plug hole and it only goes up by about 5to 8.besides the rings and pistons what could be the problem .

Possibilities are anywhere the pressure could escape....a cracked cylinder, a warped head, a valve not sealing...Go ahead and check the other cylinders.

all the other cylinders are at normal compression .its only the first one thats got no compression

with no major change when oil is added it is usually the head or valves that are the problem. I would normally suspect a burnt valve but if it over heated it could also be a warped head
