I have decided to remove the A/C unit from the truck, i don't run it and don't even have a belt on it. I am worried about discharging the compressor though.
Have any of you guys done this and how?
Also i'm going to pull the hoses and i guess just cap off the ports. Anyone with advice or tips please feel free to respond.
I need some AC parts for my truck, your parts aren't off of a 460 are they? Anyhow there is pressure on the AC system itself, so don't go popping lines off with pressure you'll get a nasty surprise. Your supposed to have it properly evacuated and taken care of. Recovery Machine etc. But if you system has no freon in it your ok. Sometimes leaks happen. Just take the lines off at the cab. I believe you can get caps from a local heating and air suppply house.
Just took off an 18" piece of 1/2" heat hose crammed-on-to-both of the evaporator's pipes...
been on there a little over a week (supposed to just be keeping the dirt out) while i had my a/c apart.
It went -=whoosh=-. :)
Must've been holding and sealing pretty good. LOL :)
A couple other things went whoosh too. ;)
Using (unloaded) lead (unjacketed) 45 Colt bullets and a flare-fitting-nut to hold them tight...
sealed off the condensing coil and also the receiver dryer.
Uhhh... yeah you can also buy stuff :/ to seal them off if they'll sell 'em to ya.
Call and ask?

My A/C is off of a 300 six. I'll call around like suggested for caps. So basically i can pull the A/C unit, remove the hoses and cap them off. Done. That's what I'll do. I'll keep you guys posted.
