I'd like a trans fluid temp gauge on my 05 F250. I'd prefer something like I have on my 150, an Edge Evolution tuner with the digital display. I looked at the Scan Guage II, but it appears that it does not allow for viewing the trans fluid temp. Other than a standard gauge, are there other choices like the Edge or Scan Gauge?
I think your best bet is going to be an analog gauge. Bully dog doesn't have their outlook monitor configured for a v10(atleast not the last time I looked, but I don't know what their big monitor can do(from what I have seen it looks like the A2). If your just doing one gauge, it might be easier to do the analog gauge.
The Dashhawk should be able to do this for you, and it is pretty similar to the Edge evolution you are used to (MSD owns Edge now). I should be getting a Dashhawk soon, and working as a beta tester for them to get stuff working on the 6.0L. If you want, send me a PM in a week or so and I can let you know what all is working.
Ahhhh..that dashhawk looks like the ticket! But...for the money, you'd think they'd provide you with a mount of some sort. The Edge came with a nice, molded mount that looked almost factory...
Ahhh well....
Beer, I'll shoot you a PM next week or so...thanks.
Actually, I would be willing to bet the dimensions are the same and you might be able to use the one that comes for the edge, just look and see if they have the same dimensions and if they do, you might be able to get away with using it for the dashhawk.
oh yea, thats right, 150 doesn't mount on the a-pillar like the one that goes to the 250, but they do make them to fit on the a-pillar of the superdutys. They have 3 different styles last time I saw, a full pillar, another pillar type that I think your still able to have the grab handle, and a windshield mount. Unless your talking about the windshield pods, most of your other gauge pods aren't really all that compatible between the 150 to the superdutys. Ford made the interior of a 150 it's own, so you won't be able to use that one for sure, you'll have to get a different pod.
I believe the Dashhawk just comes with a L braket to mount it with, but it will fit in any of the Edge mounts. Like Tex mentioned I have seen 3 of them online, but none of them installed. One mounts to the dash right next to the a-pillar, one mounts to the a-pillar right below the handle, and one mounts to the headliner. I will probably buy all three once I get the Dashhawk up and running and see which one I like the most and return the others. I'll be sure to take pictures.
The only drawback that I can think of when it comes to the digital monitors, is that because your reading it thru the obd-II port is that you are at the mercy of where Ford put their sensors. I have noticed that my outlook monitor didn't quite mesh with my analog gauges when I got them in. That either means that I bungled the installation of the analog gauges or where Ford has their sensors isn't the most accurate place to be getting readings and since their gauges in the cluster aren't the greatest, it makes me wonder about the sensors themselves. When I installed the tranny probe in the pan, I didn't see anything that also looked like a sensor, so I'm willing to bet the sensor that you would be reading thru the port isn't in the pan(unless I just missed it which could be possible). From everything that I have heard, and read having the tranny probe in the pan is more accurate, it is like the difference between an egt reading pre v. post. I just thought I would throw that out there for what's worth.
