Any recommendations for a reverse camera for the Pioneer AVIC - Z1 on a '07 F250? I've seen the license plate cameras but not sure if I'm sold on those yet. Thanks.
I've had the Boyo license plate camera on both of my Super Duty's and have been pretty happy with them. The first one was the VTL100 which was black plastic, this time I moved up to the VTL300 which is metal. There are pics of it in my gallery. You don't really notice it unless you know it is there.
Beerstalker, thanks for the feedback. I've been considering the VTL300 but not sure about the horizontal and vertical viewing angles. Does it work well for hitching up trailers? Can you see the hitch ball to have a point of reference? I'd like to use it as an aid for trailering.
There is an alan head screw that you can loosen up and then aim the camera like 30° up and down to get it how you want so I don't think you would have a problem using it to hook up a trailer. Unless you have a big drop hitch, then you might not be able to see the ball, but I would think you could still line up everything fine, you just might have a hard time backing up the right distance the first few times. Eventually I would think you would find a place to line the bumper up with on the tongue for it to be right.
I actually haven't had a chance to hook up the wires to my new one yet. I have had it installed for a couple months, have the wire hooked up in the cab, but just haven't run it to the back of the truck. I plan on doing that and some other things this weekend.
Thanks for all the tips. I ended up installing a VTL300 license plate camera and love it. Easy, clean install and the picture is great. Been using it for hitching up trailers. The picture is great at night with very little light needed to brighten up the image.
