I am looking to put new shocks on my 95 bronco with 66,000 miles on it. I don't want a real off road ride because I put about 60 highway miles each day on the truck. What would be a good shock to give me good on road ride with decent off road capability. I spend about 10% of my time off road. I was looking at Bilstien or Rancho, any suggestions? Any other shocks I should look into?

these are adjustable @ the shock or with the in cab controls and gauges.
heard the 5000 series is little hard over hiway expansion joints..etc.
some say the Gabriel truck series are ok too
can do some comparison shopping on the www for you..if you get better advice from others here on which shock to buy; then let me know and I'll look up some prices here locally (a local tire/4x4 shop beats most www sites for prices on almost everything; incl tire-rack for name brand tires and suspension lifts..shocks, etc.)..for comparison purposes..live in southern NJ..so shipping costs may be a prob from here.
others say edelbrock ias's are good too (summitracing.com)..@ $69.95 each..adjustable too
I've got rs 9000 5 five way adjustible shocks on my 94 Bronco. The suspension is stock, I spend about 10 miles on the highway each day and the ride is still good. I have also heard some good things about pro comp shocks, no expirence myself with them.
RS 9000s will cost about $72- $85 depending on where you look.
Pro Comps will cost $25- $32 depending on which kind you want.
In my room, I have 4 Bilstein shocks for the front suspension. They were $50 each and I could only afford 4 and not all 6 at once. I will try and install them this weekend and I can tell you how they feel. I too also drive on the highway most of the time.
THanks, I would like to hear how those Bilstiens are. I am going to work in the other direction. Do the back first, then the quads next month. I will be doing my rear shocks next weekend, so I am interested to hear what you think.
Well, the bilstein shocks are great! I needed a couple days to test them out before I could respond. They are stiffer than the OE but not too stiff that it would rattle your bones on speed bumbs. Body roll is reduced a bit and I can go faster on cloverleafs on highways. I haven't gone off-roading yet. I need a another week or so to play around with them, but all my opinions so far are positive. It was a b-i-t-c-h to install all four though. The rust on the old threads on the shocks where bad and I broke two of the threads trying to loosen them off. Talk about Ford tough.
