trans prob
On an 02 F150 when I drive it doesn't shift into 3rd gear. It doesn't even seem to try and shift. If I drive at 3500 rpms it goes about 55 mph, with the overdrive off. If I kick in the overdrive it just revs and does nothing. Any ideas?

How many miles are on your truck? What engine do you have?
I would start off with basic things. Check the fluid level. Does the fluid look and smell normal, or is it dark and smell burned. A fluid and filter change might in order. Good luck!

Thats exactly what my 98' did in overdrive. Everytime it went into overdrive it would just rev up like it was in neutral.
The verdict: My clutches where all burnt in the tranny.
You could try the oil and filter change but I'm sure your tranny needs new clutches. Mine went at 160,000km's

The truck has 260,00 miles. It has the 5.4L It has only been 3,000 since the last trans. oil and filter change. I am having a new catalytic converter put on right now. My son stepped on the tailpipe to get in the bed and bent it. I drove it like that for I don't know how long before I started having all kinds of problems. Up until now I have only had to do routine maintenance. Guess the truck gods are saying my time is up.
