"Injecting water/methanol lower than 3300-3500 RPM could result in combustion quench. All vehicles are different. If the engine bogs or loses power, then it is coming on too early, the quantity is too much, or there is not enough methanol in the mixture (50/50water/methanol recommended)."-Snow Performance.com
Ok, this is going to be purely experimentation and hopefully a success if I purchase the stage one injection kit from Snow. It says above about injecting any less than 3300 rpms but I was hoping to set mine up to inject anytime off idle. Sound absurd? I'm no expert here so does that sound off or are you only supposed to have water injection upon full throttle? What I'd like to do is install the kit, crank up my timing to about 15 degree's (or whatever is allowed) and then be able to run low grade fuel. The whole reason for getting this system was to run low grade fuel b/c it will pay for itself in a year if it allows me to do so. Opinions??
It will not pay for it's self in a year. Its a dam good kit. I have had a few.
The water/meth is $$ and even with a 7 gallon res it don'g last to long.
Do a search on hear in the FE forum. there were a few pages.
Well here's a thought, what if I do just what its' called...water injection w/ no meth. Water is cheap and during the winter...I'll find a way around that prob. I'm not so much looking for the power gain from the meth, just the ability to make my engine not eat itself and run on low grade fuel. I think it'd pay for itself alot faster if I just used water.
I have a friend who used to tow a lot of weight in a 5th wheel with his pick-up...up Baker Grade in cal , coming back to Vegas in the summer....(mouth full) He was looking for anything to give him an edge,he built a vapor injector out of a plastic container,(window washer fluid resevoir?) A vacuum line created vacuum inside the container, while the air rushing in,came in through a hose connected to an aquarium aireator that sat on the bottom and created a bubble/agitation stream that made vapor, that was sucked into the manifold...Later he tried mixing alcohol in the water to sort of make an alcohol/water vapor. He said it gave him some power? and helped hold down the preignition with the heat. He/we also found that you want to put a valve on it, no vacuum leak when empty, and you want to close the valve before you shut off the engine...the moisture condenses in the cylinders and causes rust.
I didn't mean this as anything except as a comment along the lines of the thread, and an interesting experiment. I've never even seen an actual water "injector"...
there are several kits out there and more home made ones Putting rubbing achole in it will keep it from freezing in the winter. we built one out of a mountain dew bottle for my brother in law just to see what it would do. it has been on for 9 months now just from a seat of the pants feel he said it had more power. I do know that the preignition went away.
