starter problem
here is the details. this will probably be long.
tonight after work i got in it and turned the key to start it and it almost acted like it didn't want to start and then it fired up. but the starter would not disengage just kept right on turning. i turned the key to off and took the key out and the starter kept turning but really slow and it kept doing this until the battery went dead. about 1 minute it wasn't very long. we tried to jump it and it did nothing i got no warning lights or anything.
i did change the relay on the fender a couple of months ago. is that the solienode (spelling) or the relay i can't remember. and is there one on the starter. i think that is what the problem is but i could be wrong.

my old 86 ate the starter solenoids for dinner. I went through one every six months. It's the one you are talking about, I think, that is mounted on the passenger side fender near the battery. They don't cost too much. But, they always failed that way on me -- they would short in the 'on' position and I would have to disconnect my battery to get it to stop.
I used to carry an extra with me all the time, cause they were so easy to change. But, they are poorly made and were always going out.

i went ahead and put the old one on and it is on the charger right now. i had just changed that back in either 3-4 months ago. it is weird cause i put one on my old f150 and it lasted well past i got rid of it but this one died so fast.
