Same 4-speed autos. Model 4R100. Problems with very limited ATF (automatic transmission fluid) flow when towing and stomping on gas, full throttle and slow acceleration (mean a heavy load). Problems with transmission burning up and slipping. Expect long life if not towing with it.

I don't like the electronic line pressure units. Invest in an accumulator/valve body/shift kit. You need more volume as well as pressure to keep the trans cool. I am very happy with my factory tech valve body, simple install and I can chirp second with a n/a 5.4L.
Diesel/lightening transmissions were beefed up more than the 5.4/6.0. Other than that, they should be interchangable.

I second the factory tech valve body.I have an 02 Dually 4x4 with the 4.30s and I can also chirp the 4 rear tires at full throttle first to second gear shifts. On my old 99 it had the Banks Transcommand on it and it never shifted this hard.
