well Iknow its like $800 for a rebiult box Iwas thinking of rebuilding my box with a kit from jbg but I don't think it comes with internals Will the 80's box need any costimizing to work I realy don't want to have to purchase an adjustable drag link what are your thoughts??????
Havng the steering box rebuilt or replaced will not fix the problem and the steering box will still not be centered. You need to be able to adjust the drag link length to compensate for the lift.
well I adjusted the toe in and I t drives alot better It just seems like there is alot of play in the steering. I also did what u said about checking the center. the drag link was not to short or to long it went back up in perfectly in the center of the whole in the pitman arm??????

What steering box are you running? Is it a stock Bronco box? Where is the play in the steering at? Do you turn the wheel a lot before the pitman arm moves?
Its the stock bronco/f100 box, I think I found the problem though, U can turn the stering wheel about 1/4 without it steering . I had my brother turn the wheel why I watched, My tierod just twisted and rolled before the tires actually steered, so that is werr the play is comming from,..............
A stock EB box is different from the F100 conversion box. The F series swap was popular years ago but it does have its drawbacks. Because of the long pitman shaft, the pitman arm hangs far below the frame which puts a lot of stress on the frame from the increased leverage. It can also be tough to get the steering geometry right as the draglink wants to be at less of an angle than the track bar. Although, it sounds like your lift has actually improved it.
Sounds like you may be onto what is causing some of your wandering issues.
The worn tie rod ends may be exagerating other problems, but you're on the right track.
A steering stabilizer shock across the front will do wonders too. I found out after driving a rutted road one day. About drove me NUTS pulling from one side to the other, like it was going schizo on me. The stabilizer shock made ALL the difference I needed. Never had to touch anything else.
But those worn tie rod ends are ALWAYS worth replacing. For your safety and your passengers..not to mention the others on the highway. If you can turn the wheel that much and see that much play..wowsers ... glad you found that!!
