I have been buying the Shell Rotella triple protection since last fall at Wal-Mart for around $9.00 per gallon. I just installed a new Filtration Solutions filter on my truck and so to get a base line of future reference I took an oil sample. I was surprized buy how low the soot was on the sample taken before the install of the filter. I am hoping to start getting longer intervals between oil changes I currently change at 5000 miles.

You can get Motorcraft 15W40 CJ-4 oil for $9.94 per 5 QT jug from Advance Auto Parts every day low price, what else are you hoping to gain? $27 worth of oil is really hard to argue with on a 5K oil change interval. Most gasers cost this much for 6 qts with filter. With a little shopping you could be less than $40 per oil change. With most synthetics you could not get half the oil for that price. Just something to ponder. If its going in a 6.0 (pretty sure why the rating was mentioned) we ran a cost study in another thread, in a 6.0 syn loses every time in the cost column every time.
