Problems starting

Hey guys, I have a problem and was wondering if you could help. I have a 2000 F150 Sport with manual transmission. For the past couple of weeks, it hasn't started on occasion. All the lights come on but it won't try to turn over. No noises at all. I have to either push it and pop the clutch or arc the solenoid and it fires right up. I thought it was the clutch switch so I replaced it. Now it's gone from starting most of the time to not starting at all without using above procedures. I assume the starter and solenoid are good since it starts by arcing it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds like a bad/loose connection somewhere.I had the same problem on my 97;turned out to be the + cable to the starter was loose.I've also read threads where the cable itself corrodes and has to be replaced. Also, the eyelet at the end corrodes too and has to replaced only. You might want to also take your battery to a parts store and have a load test done to determine if the battery is ok. Good luck and keep us posted.

I changed the solenoid out today and so far it's started right up. I'll give it a few days to make sure.
