Yes you can rent /borrow the press (looks like a big c-clamp) or take and have pressed in at a garage. ,tie rod fork (for tie rod and to drive in around old balljiont to help separate everything(May need big hammer) . Get a good manual and allow a weekend per side. (just in case) The fist one will take all day and second 45 minute least it works that way for me. Good luck Keep us posted . It should just be a general guideline. I did them on my 95 4x4 and it went like that for me too. Check your tie rod ends while you are doing the ball joints. You should get a tire alignment afterwards and if your tie rod ends are bad you can save yourself from getting two alignments down the road.

What lostin90s says is general guide and will work for your truck. As he advises get a manual as there are other things you will have to do. Not a major job but can be time consuming if you have not done it before.
