I checked fuel pressure at the schrader valve and have 3 psi at all times. When I put a clear line on the return line I am getting good flow through the return system with no air bubbles. Isn't there a restrictor or pressure regulator in the return system at the back of the drivers side head? Should I look here for trouble or suspect the lift pump. I have an electric fuel pump that I was going to install at the water separator bypass but I checked it and it only puts out 3 psi max so it won't help.
The truck starts and runs good but runs out of power at 50-55 mph and kind of flutters. 86 F 250 4x4 6.9 3.55 gears.
The filter is new. I ran a clear line from the filter to the return lines and also at the water separator bypass. Next I am going to check deadhead pressure directly from the lift pump. Thanks for the replies guys.
If you ran a clear line from the filter to the #1 injector return line, there should be none or very limited fuel flow, that is supposed to be a check ball/valve for one way air bleed off only. Try clamping that line off and see if the fuel pressure rises to 4-6 psi. You can remove the complete check valve from the filter header and carefully disassemble it.......try blowing back toward the filter to see if it works and the parts are there.
