My transmission is bleeding from the passenger front side from a round thing about 2 to 3 inches in diameter. I have lost enough fluid that the stick is dry and the truck won't go into gear. I am not driving it like this, but i also can not pour more fluid into it just to watch it bleed out again.
What is this thing that is leaking? Can i fix this myself or am i screwed? Overdrive had stopped working about 200 miles ago before the leaking problem started...could they be related??? Ideas anyone? A rebuilt unit would cost more than the truck is worth.
I believe that is called the vaccum modulator valve. I dont remember off the top of my head, but I am thinking there was an exhaust clearance problem. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Keep your fingers crossed that your trans isnt toast. If so, Id swap in a 5 speed.
I almost certain that the leak is coming from the front servo not the modulator. Can a servo be fixed, replaced or resealed without dropping the trans? Can it be done at home? And how do you get it out? Any answers will be of great help...thanks.
