1 front caliper froze up ,the rim was so hot,the tran goes by 3 the overdrive, needs a new oil pan, but it drives like a new truck .its made for the high way. it sit to low ,I'm going to put in new front spings
bad news my oil pressure is off, before the oil was up to about 70, now its below 20 pounds driving and about 1 at the stop light. I just read at HAMS that I use the wrong oil to brake in the motor . it would had ben nice if the engine builder had told me to use a right oil ....all that money is trash so is this truck
I don't see all the details confirming a trashed engine. Bad oil guage, oil transmitter., oil pump, what indications. I've seen guys use regular oil after overhaul, not brake in oil. They never had a problem. Brake in oil is best. Maybe later engines require brake in oil. Give more information. Frosty and think time,Chuck.
What are you calling "break in" oil. I always thought you should use SAE 30 for break in and change it after that. Right-Wrong?
If you run a flat tappet cam, you should use a diesel grade oil such as Chevron Delo 400, or Shell Rotella-T. The newer gas engine oils do not have the added protection for older engines. As a result, newer engines that are broken in with the newer SM?? rated oils are finding out that they are wiping their cam lobes. The newer oils have a lower zinc content do to emissions, and the fact that most newer engines run roller cams. There are plenty of discussions on this topic in the oil forum. Do a search in that forum on "Rotella" or "flat tappet", lots of topics there.
And, just for the record, I am in no way implying this is Tomoto's problem, I am just replying to 1Digger's question. As to Tomoto's problems, I'm with Chuck and BobbyT on this. Check things out before you assume the worst.

the zinc has been remove from Rottello , no it never got hot ,200 then the fan can on it drop 180. I did not push it ,My trans is bad to and it was rebuild by a tran shop, goes right by 3 to 4. But the frame and truck drove like a new truck ,and the looks I got would have kill ..I'm pulling the motor today,I had the pan off last night....I'm told not to put a high volume oil pump, with the stock pan. so i guess to truck is done and going to be park ..
