Talking Superchips Programmer!

I posted a little while back about which programmer would be best for me, i have a 2002 screw w/5.4L. i went with the superchips tuner and wow. you never really know the difference until you actually get one. it is extremely impressive.

i do have on question though, before i installed the tuner on my 1-2 shift my trans would whine like is slipping, and now after the install it does it but more pronounced. i know this is because of the higher shift pressures but why whould it whine to begin with?! i am a mechanic but im not that big on trans, was looking for some opinions.

thanks,
bryan.

I'm not big on transmissions either, but I think that you have to change the valve body plate and a spring or two to get rid of that little bit of hesitation before it shifts. Someone on here will know the answer for sure but maybe this helps. I have found one kit that was between $100-$200 from transgo, but it has been a while since I have looked at it. Congrats on your tunner by the way...

F150 mudder good post and question..Ok Im a little confused, Ive heard a tuner is safe and designed to work with the stock
tranny and want hurt it, then I read post about needing to install a shift kit, My 2001 F150 5.4L ,1715 superchip..running the performance 91 octane superchip tuneing is sweeeet, even the tow-performance pulling tune is sweet..So will it hurt my tranny useing the tuner, I go back and forth, I;m not hearing any whineing or anything unusual..just more seat of the pants power, even with the 35" tires on performance mode, my friends think Ive regeared the truck..Its amazeing..johny langston can you chime in on this..I have 75k on the truck and I need to completely change fluids on drive train..

Ok I checked my truck for a noise today, and when in per-tow tune, when the tranny is in any gear includeing reverse, I can hear fluid moveing when setting still kick it in park or N and it gets quiet, kind of a swishing noise..I pulled my trailer over 200 mls with no probs and had the radio cranked up so I never noticed any noise..heck it might of made it stock..anyone with any ideas..I know the tuner boost pressures and shift firmness, as most tuners will.A friend of mine said over a year ago who is a auto tech that running higher pressures is even better for the tranny...just dont want to mess up anything..???

as long as the fluid isnt smelling burnt or getting discolored, you should be fine.
does it do it all the time?
even when driving normal?
i'd change the filter though just to be sure that all is well and the filter is actually still up there. i had a 99 sc and mabey it was just me but when i pulled the pan the filter was laying in it... like it fell off? sold it though and bought a 97 with a 4.2 5 speed. i love this truck, so far. i didnt know a 6 could have this much power and get 20 mpg.

oh yea shut your od off when towing anything too heavy. 1500 lbs or more.

it only does it under hard to medium accel when it wants a firmer shift. it did it before i had the programer but now that i have firmer shifts its alot more noticible.

now streethealer, is that like an overhaul kit or would i only need to drop the pan. and have you doen this to yours? i will do it myself, but just wondering?

thanks for the help.

No I have not done this to my truck. I want to but have not. According to the web site it can be installed in 10 min without removing the tranny. 10min seems kind of quick but it may or may not be easy. IDK. I'm definately not a tranny person.
