accelerator and kickdown

I just got my grandpa's '54 f100. my great-uncle saved it from the field. i've got a lot of finishing to do. it has a fresh 289/C4 from a '66 mustang. it runs great, but has no kickdown. i'm replacing the 2-bbl for an edelbrock 500 cfm 4-bbl setup. being 6'4", i need to get the gas pedal as far forward as i can. any suggestions?

Lokar makes a kick-down cable kit for the Edelbrock carb. I used one on my 351C with FMX auto. The setup should be identical for yours. Not oo expensive and it looks very nice.

The best place for the gas pedal is next to the recess on the vertical part of the firewall. It isn't too close to the stock brake pedal. But the best position for the gas pedal isn't going to give you much extra room for tall guys like us (I'm 6'3"). I removed the gas tank (I have a 56) and am looking for thin-backed bucket seats to maximize leg room. Not finished yet, so the jury is still out on that. Your tank is already below, so maybe a thinner seat would be the ticket for you, too.

One of the guys here with an F1 (Jet Jock), pocketed and extended the floor pan forward to create enough leg room. I have only seen photos, but seems like a perfect solution. Lot of work, though, which is why I passed on it.
