Changing power steering fluid

If I want to change out the fluid in my power steerting pump/system, do I just drain the resoirovoir? How much fluid is in the lines? How do I drain the lines?

You can disconnect the return line route it into a bucket. Then start & turn the wheel slowly. Add fluid until you get clean fluid coming out the return. Reconnect the return line top off and your good.

Add a filter in the return line after you have done the above. The fluid coming out of the container is not really clean enuf. Ford uses an initial fill with filtered fluid.

Wix Transmission/PS Filter
===================
Wix transmission/PS filter #58964
Ford equivalent filter kit #XC3Z-7B155-AA
Ford filter alone #XC3P-7B155-BA
200 psi working, pressure relieved, magnetic
change yearly or 12000 miles

I have a metal line coming from the side of the pump to the steering box. Another metal line with a rubber hose goes to the back of the power steering pump. Which is the return line?

The rubber hose is the low pressure return line.

If I remove the return hose and start dumping clean fluid into the pump, will the clean fluid drain out of the pump through where the return hose connects of is this a one way route? Do I need to cap off the port where the return hose connects to the pump until I am through adding clean fluid?

You need to cap that port. If you don't have a plug that size just connect a hose to the port and run it to a location higher than the fill port.
