Are these cracks normal?

I recently found some cracks under the cab of my '90 F250.. around the seat bolts.. is this normal for these trucks? one crack was about 4" long.. I welded in some sheetmetal around there to beef it up some.. I hope that will work..

I think that was a common problem in the older Fords...not enough metal around the
seat mounts.

I never had that problem on any truck I have owned . But then the rust usually sets in before the cracks. I have fixed a couple for people with same problem as described. I think rattosh51 said it all.
