first the parking brake light on the guage cluster stopped working, thenthe odometer went blankand the speedometer isn't working. Have had the truck for two months with no noticable symptoms.
Might the plug on the back of the panel. It might be loose even if it isnt a digital dash it is still electriconicly powered with a plug on the back. (happened to my nephews truck)
Sounds like you might WANT to find a cluster WITH a tach anyway......the way you list "no tach" in your sig....lol....Perfect time!!....nothing to installing it just get the right years........probly a burnt out bulb on the brake light. You can check all of them when you put the new cluster...here's the "how-to".
It sounds like you've lost the ground in the cluster. It's time to replace or repair it. Start by removing it, then look at the printed overlay on the back. Look for any areas of the copper ribbons that are broken. They CAN be repaired. You'll need an x-acto knife, a soldering pencil, some silver core solder, and some small gauge wire (24 or 26gauge). Use the knife to scrape the plastic away from the ends of the broken copper ribbons, then solder a piece of wire just long enough to cross the gap in it's place.
it was a blown fuse. my 15yo son, who loves the truck, was washing it and pulled the cover wondering what it was (it looks like a door) when he realized what it was he put it back on and some how the fuse/buss was blown.
I have been looking for a cluster with a tach and believe the blub for the break light is burnt.
hopefully the prob was just the fuse and will not reaccure.
