Bed & Cab Movement Normal?

ALright, today I rocked my truck by putting pressure on the bed and noticed some movement between the bed & the cab. In other words, when one moves, the other doesnt follow it exactly. THeres a small amount of play between the two. I know some is normall, but how much?

Maybe some of yall can do this on yalls trucks? Say you put your hands on the bed rail, close to the cab and rock your truck. Does the cab follow it exactly?

THanks for any input

Bed & Cab Movement Normal?

I've noted play on all my trucks, but it's minimal. The bed is bolted directly to the frame, while the cab is mounted on rubber bushings. While they are rubber, they are still fairly solid.

If your getting more than half an inch of play, check the following. Rock the bed and look for movement between the bed and the frame. If there's play there you likely have loose bed bolts or some type of rust damage to the bed supports or truck frame. If the bed is solid to the frame, check the rubber cab mounts for dry rot or rust damage to the cross member the rear cabs mounts bolt too.

Hope this helps,
Bill

Yes there is suposed to be movement between the two. And they do not follow each other. This is the frame flexing and it is normal. I have seen some 4X4 while 'wheeling look like they were gona twist the frame in a pretzel. Now if you have More clearence at the bottom than the top from the bed to the cab, you have some issues with a saging frame. otherwise, all is normal.

THanks guys! This scared the $%#$ out of me when i first noticed it. Deff. not more than 1/2 between the two.

Thankfully the frame isn't sagging either.

Take a look at hoxiii's gallery. He has a picture of the completely normal frame flex. It's amazing how much flex these trucks have.

Here ya go, these are pretty normal amounts of frame flex. I have another picture somewhere where I have one rear tire on the roof of a Nissan Pulsar and the cab and front axle are sitting totally flat.

EDIT: I can't find the one on the roof, but i have one on the hood and one on the A pillar.
