I recently pulled the 302 out of my 86 Bronco. The engine was
frozen when I did it so I pulled the torque converter and driveplate with it. I'm getting ready to put another engine back in and I didn't pay attention to the alignment between the drive plate and torque converter. How important is this and what do I need to do if anything before installitaion of the new motor?
Just make sure the drain plug for the torque convertor lines up with the large hole in the flexplate. Some plates have large holes at every possible location, and some don't. I am assuming you are putting the torque convertor back on the trans first(you need to). Make sure you twist, turn and push many times on the convertor to make sure it engages all the the different splines on the transmission.
