glow plug on-time
I think I found a real way to tell how long the glow plugs actually stay on. we all know the light on the dash has nothing to do with how long the actually operate. it is just a pre-set light. more like a wait-to-start lamp.. after installing a volt meter i have noticed that the gauge reads 12v for roughly 15 to 30 sec after cranking and then it slowly climbs back to the normal 14vdc range. anyone else notice this. any techs verify this? it seems plausible to me as glow plugs would draw alot of amperage

glow plugs can stay on for up to 2 minutes after the engine is running. the meter is showing 12V because the charging system does not operate at 100% untill the glow plugs are off to extend the life of the glow plugs.
