fixing gas gauge
i have read alot of posts about the gas gauge not working and it is either the sending unit is bad or the ground wire is broke. and before spending $100 i would like to find out what the problem is.
well today after work i finally took a look and followed the wires from the top of the tank to the front and when the wires get up front under the hood, behind the air box. the wires right before they go into a green connector there is a white wire with a red stripe in it that was cut and and the part of the wire coming out of the connector has a red wire hooked up to it and it runs down below and probably out back, because the farmer that had it before me put a trailer brake controller put in.
my question is this the ground wire? could i hook a wire up to it and ground it out on the body somewhere or do i have to hook it up to the green connector with the red wire? it is an 89 f250 also
