I am currently looking for a great alarm system for my soon to be delivered (5/21) 250 psd KR. Does anyone have any suggestions, prices and where to buy and where to have installed? I currently live in Orlando ( moving back to Kentucky soon) and don't want the new toy going on a trip to the islands!!!!!
I've had a Ford dealer installed alarm / starter since day 1 with my current truck. I have had zero problems with it. The "shock" warning is usually enough to deter, but the all out alarm is too loud to stand comfortably next to the vehicle, which is what you want.
The dealer installed one works great on my 06, but I like Clifford and Viper alarms. I have had both and they both worked really good for me. Just about all of the better alarms have the starter disable and some kind of alarm.
Viper and Clifford are great names and products like kimminau2 mentioned. they are both made by directed who makes a whole bunch of other alarms and electronics. Id go with one of them for sure. Clifford is my favorite.
Has anyone heard of ravelco? It sounds like the only fool-proof way to keep your vehicle from being stolen!! Check it out @ ravelco.com, and let me know what you think.

Agreed..
DEI makes viper and clifford, and they are actually the same units with different names. Most alarms out there are DEI associated, and are internally the same, which makes them easier to disable, since a large number of people know how to install them (they know exactly how they work). The key is to have a reputable shop do a GOOD well hidden/wired install, and add a tracking system or two. Just a plain alarm, even a top end Clifford or Viper, is not great security. Plan for your vehicle being stolen and how you want to get it back.
