Hey all couple of exhaust questions. Been thinking about a cat back for a while now and have some questions. It looks like I could order a Magnaflow 16614 from performance peddler for about 380 then pay around 100 for installation at a local shop. Or I could get their cheapo brand installed for about 380 total. I was wondering about ordering a muffler and tips and have them do the pipes. My question is would this be a good way to go.
1. What size muffler would I need to order? Single in dual out.
2. What size tips should I go with.
3. How much less loud is the Flowmaster 50 series than say a Flowmaster 40 series or a Magnaflow.
Well the 40s are the loudest there are sound clips on flowmasters site go check em out same with magnalows site they got clips too its your choice for muffers could be single in single out or Siso or Single in dual (SIDO) out or dual in dual out (Dido) lots of people like the magnaflows tips its up to you too get stainless steel or they rust if you dont want them to rust
lots of people dont like the drone of the 40s on the highway good luck
Was in the same boat and finally just ordered the 16614 from the peddler and had it installed 2 days ago. Love the sound and for the price you cant beat it. I live in upstate NY so I needed the stainless.
I priced the muffler and tips and I too was going to have the shop do the pipe but it was around 375-400 and it wasnt going to be stainless. So do yourself a favor and just order it. I read for months and months and tried to figure everyway to save a buck. 16614 #1 choice!!!!
BMLOCAL where abouts are you in upstate New York I live about an hour north of Albany NY. Yeah I guess I should just bite the bullet and order it. I guess I never thought about getting the stainless. I priced out the stainless muffler and stainless tips at 155.00 and the install without stainless piping was 220.00 putting me at 375.00.
Peddler has the 16614 for 374.00 and installation was 90.00 at local shop-- so for 89 bucks the all stainless sounds like the way to go.
i plan on doing my 16612 SISO kit this afternoon in my garage.... i wouldnt pay someone almost 100 bucks just to do what i would rather do on my own. from what i have read, these kits shouldnt take longer than a couple hours to do at home.
ok, well i installed mine today, and it took about an hour... was really simple i thought. one trick i did to make it easier was to unbolt the hanger brackets from the truck completely, and then removed the entire stock setup in 1 piece by lowering the spare tire, and then also jacking the pass rear side up with a floorjack. that gave more than enough room to fish out the stocker. then when it was out, you can fight the rubber hanger mounts much easier. the install on the kit was really simple. now my truck sounds like it should.
