OK, I'll admit that it's been a while since I've been on the forum. I have been trying to catch up on my reading and keep seeing references to the "buzz" and "inductive heating" flashes. What do these flashes do exactly and what is the "buzz" noise that I see people referring to in their posts? I am also wondering if I "need" to get caught up with these flashes????
I have an 03 F-250 2WD Crew Cab Lariat with 63.5K on it. The only mod I have done is chopping off my stock muffler and welding a 3.5 inch pro flow muffler in it's place (so I don't catch any flack from the inspection people). My last flash was over a year ago when they offered the voluntary emissions flash that removed the input of the EBP sensor. It has not been in the shop since (knock on wood). I currently get 16 mpg in the city on a regular basis and 19 to 20 on the highway.
I live in Houston and back in February we had some really cold weather for down here. I noticed the truck would puff white smoke on cold starts and run like it was misfiring for about 5 to 10 seconds, then it was fine. Plugging it in overnight stopped all but the white smoke on initial start up. Once we got back to our normal weather down here, the issue stopped completely. Does one of these flashes correct this?
I apologize now if this information is posted elswhere. I just haven't been able to find it. Thanks.
the buzz flash is no more, so i will not talk about it unless you need me to. the inductive heating flash is to prevent and or eliminate alltogether the roughness you felt in the cold weather. these trucks do not need to be plugged up untill -10 degrees ( i think ). i have seen what the heating strategy can do and i feel great about it. i reccomend you get this, but you might have to pay due to the deductible.
Thanks. I've noticed some oil on the side of my oil pan (not hitting the ground at this time) when I changed the oil a couple of weeks ago and will get it all done at the same time once I get a chance to drop it off.
