7.3L Whats the best year?
#16
Okay, i got flamed once, so i will again and i will say this....
The best is a 2000(certain months). It has the trans cooling is water to oil, and the second one is air to oil. It has the good programming, forged rods, non diode trans. The 99and eariler were good too, the only problem i have with the 01 and up is they have PMRs. Yes over 400 you may need head studs, which ive seen on TDS can be done without lifting the cab, and without pulling the motor.

after you, bdrummonds brought up many good points. another of which is the tranny point. what exactly is the diode being referred to? I know alot of stuff got changed half way through 99 not sure about between 99 and 00. We've got a 2000 Exc and was wondering if we lucked out and got one of the better years. Programming can be changed but stuff like forged rods and better tranny guts is a good feeling.
