Call a spring shop. I just replaced mine with a set from a 3/4 ton, they are stiff but they were 1/2 the money. JC Whitney can also supply springs for the 78 Bronco in stock configuration. Be prepared to use a cutting torch to remove the old sleeves and bushings. They tend to rust in and have to be cut out. I would suggest that you also replace the rear spring hanger (swing) brackets.
thanks for responding bob. i would have said thanks sooner but i crashed my computer, thank god not my bronco, anyways i contacted my local springshop and they wanted the codes? they looked on my door jam at the plate and couldn't find the information. i went to the ford dealer and he can't figure out why mine doesnt have the info on that plate. he didn't even have luck trying to look it up. I might just go with the springs from k bar s.
thanks,
dave
Check this web site www.youngspring.com this is the local spring shop that I use and I trust this mans judgement and advice. He would probably look up the numbers you need if you call him.
I had the chance to haul over 1200 lbs of steel in the back of the bronco and I still had plenty of spring left. I have to admit that the 3/4 ton springs are stiff but that was my choice.
I have a 78 Bronco, and I have the saggy spring problem, I was wondering if you could swap some newer style (87-96) f-150 spings and still have the ride quality. I have been contemplating this for a while. I also have a 4 inch lift.
hey Dallan...You might want to check around locally for another shop...I went to a welder/fabricator shop...and they had a book that showed standard and heavey duty springs for my 79 bronco...I got the heavey duty springs....It was actually cheaper than Whitley...not even counting shipping.
