Vibrating 302

I recently put a 302 out of a 87 Cougar into my 86 Bronco.
After installation the truck idles fine but vibrates when
I put it in gear it runs really rough and back fires. I think
the timming is right I tried to adjust it with a timming light.
The trans. seems to shift fine but I haven't taken it over 25mph
because it shakes so bad. I'm thinking I may have done something
wrong with bolting the drive plate to the torque converter. Is this possible? Does anyone know if this could cause the vibration I'm having? All the bolts lined up fine when I torqued
them. Does it just need to be broken in?
I'm at a loss?
Please give advice!?!

No, it doesn't just need to be "broken in". There is something wrong. How did the ngine run when it was in the Cougar? If it ran ok before and I just had to guess, I would say you crossed up the plug wires at some point. Have you had the plug wires, distributor cap or distributor removed at any point?

thanks for the reply. I did make sure the wires were correct.
I've heard some people talk about the vaccum advance? I don't
think my Bronco has this? Is it electrical possibly? Mabey I'm missing a wire I should be diconnecting?

Does anyone know if and 86 302EFI Eddie Bauer has the Vaccum
advance on the distributor?

thanks for the help
