Hello all,
I am buying a 2002 XL and was wondering if I could swap out the bench seat with a 40/20/20 or something else from an XLT?
They are in great shape, but don't recline.
Is the XLT seat of the same year just a swap in, assuming there are no power connections?
Anyone done it, and if so, how much?
Thanks,
Bill
Not sure, but I'm guessing that both will interchange, based on Ford not wanting to waste the money to drill and tap different cab patterns. If this holds true then the frames should interchange. Sure theres the room to recline anyway?
I've thought about doing the swap a million times. Just called the local junk yard the other day andthey qouted me $500 dollars for a set of 40/20/40 seats out of an 2001 with over 200,000 miles. They said the seats even showed the mileage on them. I said thanks but no thanks. They are a huge yard too, and say they rarely see any superduty stuff. Same goes with OEM chrome step bars and 05+ front ends. Cant find the stuff anywhere. My .02 cents.
I think that even the 05+ seats will bolt in
I am looking to do this w/ my truck, swap out my older seats for the newer kind.
E-bay has pritty good deals on seats.
the only thing you cant do is swap from an F-150 to a superduty.
I've seen some Ebay stuff, but the shipping is killer. About $200.
The problem is that I am 6'6" and like to recline the seat back a bit for comfort. Plus, I always try to adjust the headrests so I won't get whiplash if I get rearended!
The bench seats won't allow me to recline, and have a built in headrest.
