my 76 stops pretty well about 2" of pedal travel will about lock the brakes up. the booster needs about 20 HG to operate. do you have a vacuum check valve installed?
same here pedal is soft and goes pffft when you depress it but i have never checked the vacuum. how do you install a valve? just run it inline? that kkeps the vacuum from flowing backwards like a water check valve correct??
I had the same problem with mine. Someone else posted on here, check to see if the booster is working, step on the pedal with the motor off, start the engine, and if the pedal doesn't move, the booster is not functioning. I did this and my pedal did not move. I knew I had good vacuum, so I replaced the booster with a rebuilt unit and what a difference!. Mine's a 74 with front drums, and I was thinking of converting to a disc brake 44, but I see no need to do this now, it stops great even with 39.5 swampers.
