If you can't afford gauges can you afford a new engine? Search the sponsors of this site. Once in a while you can come across someone selling a used set.

I have the X monitor I know its costly but it tucks down at the bottom of the console and doesnt add to the pillar blind spot we all have. Plus it reads an actual number and has alarms that you can set, and most of all you look in one place and all your numbers are right there easy to read. JMHO though.

i can tell you honestly... i only have MILD mods on my 02... and i am using the 85 hp tune on the predator... so, compared with lots of guys on here, i have just done the basics needed to "wake up" my mule... what i can tell you is how FAST egt's can go up on my truck, especially when towing... the basic gauges are CRITICAL...!!! the pyro tells you when you need to get off the accelerator so you don't melt anything... the tranny temp gauge lets you know when you need to pull over and let your mule cool off because she's towed that heavy load up enough hills for now... and the turbo boost guage is a good one to have if you have a stock or mostly stock turbo because if you go much past 25 lbs of boost you are simply putting needless strain on your turbo because it becomes increasingly less efficient after that point... so, long story short, a stock power stroke is designed to operate within safe temps and pressures... when you can exceed stock performance, you can easilly exceede those safe operating levels... you HAVE to be able to monitor those levels so you will know when to ease off before you damage something... like the man said... if you are going to mod your psd, you can buy gauges or you can buy a new engine... and that is the God's honest truth...

Guages arent something to go cheap on, they are probably the most important part of your truck

You know, I would think that as an enlightened PSD owner you would want know every bit of info that your engine can give you. I used to think CSIPSD was crazy for having 12 guages, yes 12, O.K. I'll wait while you click on his gallery and count for yourself. hmmm, hummm. I find myself always wanting to monitor something else also.

I have now been through three different sets of guages to find the ones that I really like. I had an Outlook monitor from Bullydog, the digital readings jumped around so much and the glare from the sun made this thing very hard to read. I had a set of Auto meter Phantom's that looked like factory, but did not like the black face's on the pillar. I am now up to a set of white faced w/ blue pointer and lights Isspros that are the easiest to read of any that I have seen.

Get a good set of guages @$300.00 for guages and pod install them yourself, If you can tune w/ the superchips you can install guages.

Diesel Manor has downloadable directions on their website.

well, depending on you chip , and mods, youll see up to or over 25# of boost, and pyro will go from 250* at idle (cold motor) to 1250* which is safe temp for longer runs you can clock it up to 1500* when racing for very short distance and still be safe,
but you have to watch your boost, if you go over 22# you might get SES light poping up and your truck will defuel , so you might want to put boost anihilator on your MAP sensor line,

and i forgo to mention, the temps are pre-turbo, so your Pyro probe has to be mounted in the up-pipe as close to motor as you can get ,

I saw up to 26lbs of boost with the tuner (probably have some leaks too) and never got over 1100 on the pyro(running empty). By that point I was already far exceeding the speed limit, so it was time to back off anyway.

Drill and tap the driver side manifold for the pyro and delete the AIH for the boost hook up.
