My buddy has an '85 Bronco 351 with a 4spd manual. He bought a B&M handle to put on the shifter but none of the adapters fit, the shifter threads/shaft are much larger than any of the adapters. Anyone know how to make this work or where to get different adapters? I'd rather not drill out the $30 handle and mess it up.
The first thing you need to do is get some nuts and try them on the shifter to figure out what size and thread pitch you have. Then you at least know what to look for online to see if someone makes one, or talk to a local machine shop who could possibly modify one of the adapters you already have.
I'm looking at putting on a Hurst shift **** on my 86 too and my thought was to take a grinder and smooth out the splines on the end of the shifter and maybe decrease the circumference of it and just take a die and put some threads on it so I can screw on the new shift ****.
