Just finished rebuilding tranny and wondering what to use to flush cooler with. Is there some sort of solvent/chemical to use or just flush with new fluid? Thinking about using one of those pumps that go into the drill chuck to do the pumping. Any ideas? Thanks.
Some parts stores sell a cleaner that has a hose attached that you can connect to your cooler and flush it that way. The stuff I bought a few years ago came in a big green can.
I'm not sure why you had to rebuild your tranny, and if you blew yours up like I blew up mine, it had metal in the entire system. The metal would be hard to get out of the tank, and would require it to get "recored." Because of this, my tranny builder told me to bypass the radiator cooler altogether and just get a decent sized stand alone cooler instead.
They make an in-line filter that is plumbed into a cooler line. After flushing the cooler install a filter in the return line between the cooler and the transmission. That should take care of any remaining debris in the system.
