power estimation
alright, fixin to start on a 460 project and am wondering on a combonation. i am wantin to make around 500 hp and 500-550 lb-ft of torque, the combonation of parts i have so far are a performer rpm intake with a set of h-beam rods, main girdle with main studs and a set of dove-c heads, thats with the factory 22cc dish pistons, i havent decided a cam yet but am lookin at a lunati with a lift of around 550 both sides and an advertised duration of 286, this is also gonna be run with a set of 1-7/8 headers in a 72 ford f-100 short bed, preciate any help with this

without porting those heads youre not going to reach 500 horse, theyre too restrictive- especially on the exhaust side, also the stock springs wont take that much lift... i think theyre ok to 520 or less. oh, and if you do get that much lift on a cam your pistons probably dont have enough valve relief in them so you may get interference there as well
