I finaly found a truck that i could afford and its in half decent condition. The downside is it automatic and i wanted a standard. Its almost impossible to find one of these trucks in good condition in my area. So if i get this truck would anyone be willing to help me convert it to standard? or if anyone knows of a cheap standard 4x4? and about how much approx would the convertion cost? or could i trade the c6 for the stuff i need?
Its a 1977 Ford F250 w\ 351m motor, and extra motor(same), stickered till December. 83,000 orig. mi.

Looks like a high boy with ful time 4wd from the picture. To covert to a manual tranny you will need the pedal assembly from a 4wd with clutch linkage the bellcrank from the engine to frame bellhousing flywheel, clutch, throw out bearing and related parts probably an np435 4spd tranny with the bolt on yoke you can cut your tunnel floor pan or find one from a 4sp/4wd there is a plug under the dash for the neutral safety/reverse lights switch you have to jump you may have to change the intermediat drive shaft and you'll want to put a part time kit in your tranfer case.If you get a repair manual you can look at the pictures to see tha differances.
Looks like you have the bed from an '80's truck. I had the same setup until I found a '73-'79 bed and fixed it up. I sold the pristine 80's bed on Ebay for $500, which made up for the $500 purchase price on the '78 bed. Oh, and then I dumped $700 into repairing the metal and repainting on the bed. I guess $700 isn't bad for a 73-79 bed in salt laden PA.
The NP203 is a full time 4WD transfer case from the factory. The NP203 was often converted to a part-time setup with the help of a conversion kit. In that case, you would have manual locking hubs on your front axles to engage the 4WD. It doesn't look like you have manual hubs though.
hmmm...thats odd. the guy said it was deffinetly part time. unfortunately its about 3 hours away from me so i can't just go check these things out. and yea the bed is off an 84 i think but not in amazing condition. i was thinking about throwing a flatbed on it.
i don't think i can complain for what i'm gonna pay
i'm with you i like standard too. don't think i could own an automatic. look for manual trans parts truck. sounds like you got a good deal, so even if you sink some $$ on a parts truck it wouldn't be too bad. i got lucky with my 77 f350, i bought a complete 76 f350 for 250.00 and got lots of good parts.
its only $800 but i haven't gotten it yet because i have no way to get it home. i live in mass and its about 3 hours away in maine (skowhegan i think)and i can't put it on the road right now cause i need to straighten out some issues with an insurance company.
