high idle rpms
I have a '93 and '95. w/351/auto. both are 'idling' at 1800-2200 rpm. I bought the '95 that way, but the '93 started after sitting for a couple months. They run fine, but really slam into drive when I start up in the morning, and braking is tougher.
I've actually put rubber caps over the throttle bodies and the things still run. If I unplug the control on the throttle body, they drop to 700 rpm, but drive like crap.
If I removed the electrical connection to the throttle body, (is that the IAC?), it idles down and surges. If I disconnect the MAP sensor, it idles fine but 'smokes', (too rich). Took off the EGR, cleaned it, no difference. Removed the throttle bodies. The intake manifold was coated with black goo. Cleaned as much as I could. Seems to be a bit better. Idles normal for a few minutes now, but revs up once it's warm.
I've spent hours on this. Checked every vacuum line and every gasket. With something disconnected and lower rpms, it now will die if I block the throttle bodies. I'm getting 'no codes' to read. What else can I do? I need both of these for work.
Thanks
