How much for a 7.3L engine

I was in the stealership the other day and noticed a 7.3l engine for sale in the middle of the parts dept for around $7440 loaded all stock. Nicely powdered coated.

Complete engines will run from $6-$9k depending on dealership. Long block for $3-$5k. Both require a core.

My buddy had an engine and tranny installed for an even 10k at a local dealer.

This is why so many people look for a low mileage one at a salvage yard or on fleabay.

I saw a dealership down south on the internet selling brand new 7.3L with no core. Complete with turbo and all. I think they are the Brazillian made engines still selling overseas. About that price PLUS freight.

Freight on one of these would be a killer.

Didnt know if this was a good deal or not but think it was no core deal, I don't need it just thoght i would put it out to everyone.

Brings up a good point. I didn't have my truck yet when my buddy spent 10k on his 97 to replace the motor and tranny. I thought he was nuts and told him he was crazy.

I am not so sure now. I might do the same.

i guess that just proves that it pays to do the preventative maintenance on your truck so that it will last a long time, that reminds me... i'm a little overdue for an oil change..!!!
