2wd only huh?
Ford did some weird stuff though - from what I've been reading on thos board.
I wish I had saved the auction, but there was a CC long bed that was 4wd on ebay not too long ago. Local guy & NICE truck - fully redone. And the best part - it was 4wd. Sure looked to be STOCK 4wd too. Too bad the guy wanted $17k or something like that for it. He said he had $36k into it, which was understandable seeing as he had a BUILT 460, Dana 60 front w/ disks, corporate 14 rear w/ disks, rhino lined bed and inside cab. All in all a sweet truck. Just a few feet longer than the short bed I want...

WOW,
That's an awesome lookin truck in that article...a linked front.....that is a great idea....now thats what ya out to do....no leaf packs to have to mess with...only a nice set of King coilovers and your good to go.
You ought to setup your truck like the one in the article Chase...I think that would give you the best utility for the areas you go into...I think the only tricky bit would be finding the right springs for the crew cabs weight without getting to harsh of a spring rate on it...Im sure it could be done though.

If I go coilver the spring rate can be done - it will just be trail and error. I have asked on the other board I frequent about spring rates in aftermarket setups for new crew cabs, as well as 80's F-150's etc.
Looking at it more and more a 4 link solid axle or TTB setup might not be much more work than trying to get leafs on the front of this thing.
Who knows though...
For now I'm going to focus on just getting her running well. Then I can play with the "fun" stuff!
Thanks for all the help/input guys

I am getting ready to swap a '79 F-350 Cab and chassis to a 4wd, any input would be appreciated. It has a 351m in it now but I will be going to a 460 eventually. The D60 front is from an '88 F-350 cab and chassis, so is the 460 for that matter.
BTW chase how did you get the Excursion wheels to fit your truck?
