Strange experience yesterday. F - 350, KR, 6.0, loaded, 6 disc CD/radio. I was about half a mile from home and could not turn on the AC system. No lights, just all blank. I was in a bad area and did not want to stop till I got to a parts store, figuring I had a blown fuse. When I stopped, in front of a parts store, I turned of the ignition. Then I restarted, and everything was fine. First time this happened. Any one else have similar experience? 23,000 miles on 2005. Thanks for input.
It happened once while my truck was under warranty and the dealer immediately replaced it saying it was a recall that had been fixed. It has happened once since then and switching off and back on fixed it, I'm out of warranty now so I'll live with it a while.
This has happened to me once after getting a service done. I turned off the truck and restarted it. Everything went back to normal after the restart. It never has happened since. It did happen quite a few times on my 97 F250 psd. If I didn't have the ignition switch just right. I always had to play with the switch.

What happened to your 97' the a/c would stop working? The older trucks didn't have an lcd display for the hvac controls. Just curious thats all.
Follow up to original post. When the lights go out, nothing works. No A/C, No heat. No fan, temp. Roger Keyte, what was replaced? Did you get a copy of the R/O? Is there a service bulletin on the problem? Unless I know specifically what to get repaired I am reluctant as hell to have someone operating in that area where there are a zillion wires. Thanks again,
Everything failed just like you described. I have every piece of paper to do with my truck except that repair so I do not have any details. The dealership knew exactly what it was as soon as I told them about because they had seen it multiple times. The tech spoke as if they replaced a control unit but I do not know more than that. I remember him saying it was a recall but I have no paper work on that, it was all under warranty so I did not get any real details. If you want/need more details let me know and I will call the dealership and ask them exactly what they did.

Nothing would work. It was like the key was not on at all. During the day when not using the heat/ac or lights I would not notice it. How I noticed it was hooking up the trailer the brake lights would not work. It was quite annoying.
Happened to me yesterday. No display, no a/c. I stopped and checked the fuses but didn't turn the truck off. About a mile down the road I tried some other things, like the wipers and window controls, everything else worked. When I turned the headlights on and off the a/c display came on and worked fine. Sounds like a solenoid for the a/c is sticking. I'll calll my dealer tomorrow to find out what they have to say...
i have had the same trouble also the dealer told me that it would take three hours to find the problem and almost 500-700 dollars shure wish between all of us we could figure it out.
It happened to me when my 2005 KR had 2000 miles and a couple of times after. I complained to dealer but they couldn't find the problem. After warranty was up it went out completly and my dealer replaced the whole unit free, because they had it documented where I had brought it in a couple of times while still under warranty.

'06 f250 diesel with 26000miles.
Yup, flicking the headlights on and off brings it back to normal. Not sure how, not sure why, but it works.
Has anyone had the luck to get a Service Bulletin on the problem? My KR, F-350 is a pre March 2005 build. I know that because I had the brake controller problem where the trailer brakes have limited voltage at a stop, and the controller works fine at 15 mph, discussed more fully in another thread. Just thought maybe the two inter related.
