hi guys im looking for info on doing a diesel swap into my f250. any comments, ideas, or anything on the subject is greatly appreciated. also i will need a source for all the brackets ect.
i am about to do the same thing with mine, already have the motor.
you need a diesel bellhousing if its a stick, the whole trans if an automatic. diesel motor mounts, radiator, dual battery trays. for the fuel end you need a diesel sending unit, possibly the whole tank not sure. need to plumb return line to the fuel tank.
i'm sure there is more i just can't think of it off the top of my head.
After owning many gas powered Ford trucks and buying a diesel, I have found many differences between the two.
Underhood wiring, glow plug circuits, battery hook-ups, radiators, vacuum pump, fuel heater, fuel returns, water seperator, dash wiring, transmission and mucho padding to deaden the diesel rattle.
Personally, I would not attempt this unless I had a doner truck parked next to it.
And the performance of the stock 6.9 is not inpressive. A stock 460 will put it to shame!
However, I still like it!

I drove a 6.9 diesel, and compared to my stock 351w 2bbl, both had about the same pull and power empty. I wasn't able to compare them pulling a trailer. Both are c6 automatics, though mine is a 150 and his was a f250. He had 35 inch tall tires and I have 31's with 3.50 gears. I don't know what gears he has.
