Pyro hitting manifold wall

Is there a easy way to tell by the gauge if it is hitting or not?? Just wondering if the gauge would act funny if the probe was touching the manifold wall. Thanks for any info

What is the pyro gauge doing? As your thermocouple may be taking a dump.

it just seems to take a long while to cool to 400 also when i shut off the truck which inturn kills power to the pyro should it read 0? also when i turn on the truck after it cooling down for a long time what should it read? thanks

it seems to rise and fall pretty fast like upto 1100 and back to 800 when applying throttle.

Wondering b/c my probe just seemed a little long when installing

thanks

That sounds pretty normal to me. It rising and falling fast with and without throttle means that you are getting a correct response to temperature from the thermocouple. A slow reacting with load and load removed means that you are not in the middle of the "hot" gas stream. As far as taking along time to cool to 400, mine acts pretty similar as well.
