You don't need to buy both, the member (snowboarder23 or something like that) got his truck dyno'ed already bought the Volant and then switched to the Outlaw Power after the dyno testing. He is in front of the truck in part of the dyno video. For all I know he might be happy to give you his Volant since it does worse than stock below 3700 rpm.
I could have used that input before I ordered and installed my Volant last week darn it...
Actually, I found Snowboarders post on another forum and it looks as though he was a tester of the Outlaw intake and mentioned that he was going to get the Volant but did not. They did test a Volant compared to the Outlaw. He mentions that horsepower decreased at higher RPMs compared to the Outlaw. Tylus was on that thread as well...I thought the Midol comment was funny.
JLT or bust. I have one on the mustang, and I can't wait to get one for the truck... only problem is, you need to have it tuned... You know the CAI does it's job of getting more air into the motor when you NEED a tune to correct the A/F ratio because your computer can't compensate that much...
That JLT intake has a larger cross sectional area at the MAF sensor, right?
If so, then of course you need a new A/F tune, the air mass flowing per air velocity at the MAF is larger than it would be with the stock cross sectional area.
If you (were crazy enough to) put on an intake with a smaller cross sectional area at the MAF, you'd need a new tune also or the engine would run rich.

the link above has the thread, and my comment...well comments
yeah, I did make a comment something to that effect.
I just had issues with a guy promoting a product that is still in R&D and is on the 3rd revision...and still throwing CEL's on the 2nd revision. You just don't say a product is the best thing since sliced bread when it still needs more R&D
IMO, the Volant is the best looking, and I'm okay with a tiny dip in the power curve. all the CAI's give you comparable HP #'s in the end. You really shouldn't be in the 4000+ rpm range. your ideal towing power is under 3000 rpm anyways.
