Is there any way to flush the intercooler without taking it out of the truck. I cannot figure out where the oil came from. I noticed the oil seeping out of the return tube, removed it (what a pain) and it was coated.
The factory crankcase venting system is routed into the intake of the turbocharger. The oil mist then gets compressed with the rest of the air, ran through the hot side intercooler pipe, some oil settles out into the intercooler, but the majority of it goes back through the cool side IC pipe into the engine. Doesn't hurt a thing, it's done for emissions, however it will get that cruddy look to the boots, and sometimes prone to having the pipes blow out of the the boots under a high load situation. You can do the typical CCV mod, reroute the gases to the atmosphere and then clean the pipes, flush out the intercooler and be done with it. There is maybe a half pint if that much in the intercooler, its not really worth removing it. You must remove it, because you have to set it on its end to let all the water get out.
EDIT- i see you have the CCV mod. Just let the normal engine running clear out the oil in the intercooler. It takes a little while.

Finally a familiar name. How ya doing? Been away for a while due to family and health problems.
I have done the ccv mode, just have it listed wrong in my sig. The oil just ran out of the pipe like I was pouring it in from the top. I have did most of the visual checks. No seepage anywhere. What made me really start checking was a loss of power. It was not much, but enough that I noticed it. I did a code check and found that the EBP was faulting. Going to replace it tomorrow after cleaning the tube. I just cannot figure out where that dang oil came from.
How many miles on your truck? If you have had the stock CCV for a while you may have alot of gunk in the intercooler. You really need to remove it. However it's not too hard to do. On the support going across, above the radiator that ties in the front of the fenders, remove two bolts on each side facing the engine bay. Then loosen the rubber pinch-grommet things that secure the IC to that piece. Disconnect the pipes, and then remove that support and lift the IC out.
I did the ccv mode 50K ago. The truck has almost 90K on it now. I am not in physical health now to do that type of cleanout and teardown. I was wondering if there was a kit or cleaner to use that I could air or the engine turbo to blow it out.
Other than just driving the truck normally and letting it work its way out (seems like it should've after 40k), or taking the IC out and letting the oil drain out of it, there's not really anything to do. Are you sure it's oil leftover in the intercooler still, and not from some other source?
I am going to a friend's this morning. I called him late last night. Since I have a Banks Cooler, he can tap a couple of drains in the bottom without removing it. Then we can trace where the oil is coming from. Dang, I hope the turbo has not let go. I can hear it spool up, but I have noticed a loss of power lately. I read last night that a faulted BPV can cause loss of power and that problem can also cause it to suck oil past the turbo seals on the dry side. If I find out anything, I will let you guys know.
