Cab Mount

About 8 months ago, I nailed the cross-member under the transfer case while hopping a curb on a hill. (I'm hoping I use the right names here, I don't know them exactly.) Its the metal piece running from one frame rail to the other, and its now dented/twisted, though technically intact. The transmission shifted badly for about a week, but went back to normal, so that's not the concern. While having a bumper fixed, I asked the auto body repair place to estimate for a replacement and tell me what it would do if left unrepaired. They said between 400 and 500 dollars for the fix (!) and that if left undone, the cab mount, (there is a bushing also, where this piece connects with the frame) would work itself loose and begin rattling and twisting. This sounded very bad to me, but I didnt have the money to fix it at the time. This summer, though, I have begun four wheeling a lot more (2-3 times a week) and I'm even more afraid of the effects of twisting the frame and bouncing over stuff. Anyone know how much that should really cost to fix, how important it really is, and what the eventual effects could be if left unfixed with lots of 'wheeling? Thanks.
